Heart vs Mind
30 x 40” Watercolor on Paper
This piece broke a period of artist block that I had. I was not creating, not inspired, not motivated to do much. I felt like I had to wait for inspiration to strike — until I took charge of the situation and forced myself to paint. It’s wild how the mind can take control sometimes. It can feel like a war within. By connecting to my heart, which was telling me to paint, I was able to overcome my mind and the mental prison it was creating for me. The lesson I learned from this is to paint no matter what. No matter what the mind thinks is right or wrong. Our heart is always going to lead us to the right place.
